Taste Buds
- Allow your child to experience and identify each of the four unique tastes that make up flavor.
- Include a variety of tastes at each meal.
- Follow the one bite rule: Your child must try everything once.
- The earlier you introduce your child to new tastes, the better chance you have of keeping a “sweet tooth” from overpowering other taste buds.
s your child a picky eater? Here are a few tips that can help you expand his taste buds and encourage him to enjoy more food flavors.
Experiment with Tastes
When your child has fun with food he will be more willing to try different things. Allow your child to experience and identify each of the four unique tastes that make up flavor: sweet, salty, sour, and bitter. Make a game out of it and encourage your child to taste small amounts of different ingredients and identify which taste category they belong to. This can be a fun kitchen activity when preparing dinner.
