Just Stuff We Love

From baby toys and cool threads to store openings and things to do with your little one. We cover the new, the old favourites and the best-kept secrets for everything baby.

Peekaboo Playwear

Win This

We all know how much kids love to dress up. Now your child can let her imagination go wild each time she opens her closet. Peekaboobeans is a British Columbia, Canada company that aims to integrate innovative children’s playwear with early childhood development. “Clothes are made to encourage a playful lifestyle,” says founder Traci Costa. Their newest collection “When I Grow Up” celebrates life through the eyes of a child. Clothing items are inspired by tea party, detective, pirate and other play themes. For babies, we love Peekaboo Beans’ colorful mix-and-match separates such as the Encore Tunic and Improve Legging (seen here).

BPA-Free Baby Bottles

Win This

If you liked the old Adiri BPA-free baby bottles, you’ll love the new-and-improved version. The Adiri Ultimate Nurser is still 100 percent polycarbonate- and BPA-free, but now the bottles have a new leak-proof cap and better flow control. They’re also more durable–and the cap and warming plate transform into a super handy snack pot once your baby is ready for finger foods. As always, we love the soft, breast-shaped nipple, which reduces nipple confusion and helps make the switch from breast to bottle a whole lot easier for both mom and baby. Available in slow, medium and fast-flow. thewatergeeks.com

Eco-friendly Bath Time

Our kids love bath time, but when we added kid-friendly suds from eco-friendly Nature Clean, it took washing up to a whole new level. We like the new line of gentle bath products because they’re made from almost 100 percent natural ingredients and don’t contain parabens, sulphates, synthetic fragrances or dyes. Our kids like them for the Treehouse factor–each product features a colourful Treehouse character on the bottle. (The Franklin the Turtle foaming hand soap was a big hit in our house–who knew we’d have to tell a three-year-old to stop washing his hands?!) There’s also bubble bath, 2-in-1 shampoo, body wash, body lotion and leave-in detangler. naturecleanliving.com

Finally - A Comfortable Carrier for Bigger Babies

Win This

Now that our youngest are walking, we’d pretty much given up on baby wearing and resigned ourselves to strollers – until we took the new Baby Bjorn Comfort Carrier for a test drive. Maggie (all 14 months and 24 pounds of her) rode comfortably in the carrier for an extended grocery shopping expedition. In fact, the carrier can be used for children from 13 to 31 pounds (about three months to two years). An adjustable, ergonomic waist belt distributes the child’s weight comfortably on the wearer’s hips and babies can face in or out. The organic cotton carrier is machine washable and, best of all, it won't wear you out! Babybjorn.com

Adjustable Toy Strap

We don’t know about you, but as new moms we always seem to leave a litter of dropped toys and sippy cups in our wake. That was before we started attaching a Simply on Board strap to everything in sight. You just attach one Velcro end of the strap to a stroller, car seat, high chair, baby carrier (you get the idea), and the other adjustable end (Velcro again–simple!) to the thing you don’t want to lose, whether it’s your baby’s favorite soother or the indispensible Sophie the Giraffe. There are two machine-washable straps per pack and a variety of colors to choose from. Available at Babies R Us, as well as in store and online at Mastermind Toys (mastermindtoys.com).
