Just Stuff We Love

From baby toys and cool threads to store openings and things to do with your little one. We cover the new, the old favourites and the best-kept secrets for everything baby.

Bows for Babies

Now even the youngest babies can dress up their hairstyles–even if they hardly have any hair. Canadian-owned Baby Wisp specializes in headbands, bows and other accescories that make little girls feel like princesses. Their latest addition–the unmovable latch clip–can fit easily into the smallest tuff of hair and is next to impossible for baby to remove. All bows are also tested and certified lead-free.

Cute Kids Clothes

Peekaboo Beans, Playwear for Kids on the Grow, (yes, they had us at the name) has a new spring/summer line that we can't help but love. The Very Fairy Dress (pictured here) shows off the fun, fashion-forwardness of the line, but here's what really won us over: comfy, pre-washed fabrics, flat, seamless stitching, reversible, mix-and-match styles, adjustable pant legs, reflective detailing for safety – trust a mom to think of everything! (Two-year-old Maggie took an outfit for a test drive so we saw the style, versatility and wonderfully washable fabrics firsthand.) Our top pick for boys? The Hidden Treasure Pant with its drawstring waist and zip-off short options. peekaboobeans.com

Peekaboo Playwear

We all know how much kids love to dress up. Now your child can let her imagination go wild each time she opens her closet. Peekaboobeans is a British Columbia, Canada company that aims to integrate innovative children’s playwear with early childhood development. “Clothes are made to encourage a playful lifestyle,” says founder Traci Costa. Their newest collection “When I Grow Up” celebrates life through the eyes of a child. Clothing items are inspired by tea party, detective, pirate and other play themes. For babies, we love Peekaboo Beans’ colorful mix-and-match separates such as the Encore Tunic and Improve Legging (seen here).

Reversible Baby Bonnet

You just know this sassy little sunhat was made by a mom. Completely reversible, the Urban Baby Bonnet from ub2 comes in a variety of colorful styles, guaranteed to complement any cute outfit. But what we like best is the adjustable chin strap that not even one-year-old Maggie, our hat Houdini, could get undone. The long brim perfectly protects baby from sun, wind and rain and sunhat sizes range from newborn to 3T. Bamboo Babywear

From onesies and washcloths to comfy karate pants and super soft sleepwear, we like Babibu because it offers a complete line of baby basics. Best of all, everything is made from eco-friendly bamboo. Designed and handmade in Canada, the momprenneur behind the new line chose bamboo because it’s soft, breathable, hypoallergenic, sustainable and easy to care for–pretty much the perfect fabric for both mom and baby! babibu.ca
