Just Stuff We Love

From baby toys and cool threads to store openings and things to do with your little one. We cover the new, the old favourites and the best-kept secrets for everything baby.

Eco-friendly, stainless steel baby bottles

We put one of these eco-friendly baby bottles from OrganicKidz to the test and it passed with flying colors. Our product tester (one-year-old Maggie) had no problem hanging on to the slim, narrow-necked 9oz bottle, while we loved its durability (not a dent when dropped from a high-chair!), and the vacuum insulation that keeps liquids hot or cold for up to six hours. The dishwasher-safe bottles come in 4oz, 7oz and 9oz sizes, are BPA, PVC and Phthalate free, and also convert into sippy cups. They’re also just one of many amazing products featured on wildoctopus.ca, a Canadian company that represents unique, eco-friendly products–most of them made by Canadian moms!

Bamboo Babywear

From onesies and washcloths to comfy karate pants and super soft sleepwear, we like Babibu because it offers a complete line of baby basics. Best of all, everything is made from eco-friendly bamboo. Designed and handmade in Canada, the momprenneur behind the new line chose bamboo because it’s soft, breathable, hypoallergenic, sustainable and easy to care for–pretty much the perfect fabric for both mom and baby! babibu.ca

Sandwich Shape Cutters

Even the pickiest eater will look forward to lunch when his sandwich looks like an elephant or dog. The Lunch Punch was created by a mother of three to make healthy eating fun. Food cutters come in two shapes (medium-sized bread puzzle pieces and jumbo bread animals) and are designed to capture the most bread possible, leaving behind only the crusts. The Lunch Punch cutters are taller than cookie cutters, making it easy to cut through two pieces of bread and still keep sandwiches fluffy.

A Breath of Fresh Air

Did you know indoor air is polluted with toxins such as formaldehyde, benzene and ammonia? To help you breathe a little easier, the French company ANDREA has created a living filter to cleanse indoor air, removing harmful toxins and chemicals.

The elegant, egg-shaped filter was created by Harvard University professor David Edwards and French designer Mathieu Lehanneur. It turns common household plants into superhero cleansing agents by harnessing their metabolic powers to remove airborne toxins.

ANDREA air purifier is 40 times more efficient than standard carbon filters and can purify the air in a 200-square foot room in one day–so you can move it around your home to detoxify every room. Quiet, energy efficient and easy to use, you just water the plant twice a week and the filter does the rest.

Thought Spots

We love giving our children little reminders and words of encouragement, but post-it notes are so messy and uninspiring. Thought Spots are residue-free, reusable messages that stick to mirrors, windows or your fridge and easily peel off. Thought Spots are a great way to remind your toddler to brush her teeth, or to tell your little guy you think he’s super. You can buy individual large Thought Spots or packs of 12 mini-spots with themes such as positive parenting, new mom and confidence grows. The first 10 orders using coupon code BABY will receive 2 free Big Thoughts–superhero (seen here) and Happy Birthday– a $12 value.
