Just Stuff We Love

From baby toys and cool threads to store openings and things to do with your little one. We cover the new, the old favourites and the best-kept secrets for everything baby.

Travel Toy Organizer

We just wish we’d thought of this ourselves–Hold It Baby is the ultimate toy organizer for babies on the go. Simply strap it to your stroller, car seat, high chair or shopping cart and you’ll never have to worry about leaving anything behind. The non-toxic, adjustable strap lets you tether up to six items in close proximity to your child–no more diving for dropped toys or searching for somewhere to wash pacifiers or sippy cups that bit the dust. We took it for a test drive and have to agree, it is sanity on a string. holditbaby.com

Eco-Friendly Cleaning Products

We switched to earth-friendly cleaning products when our kids were born and love the Canadian brand, Attitude. (From window cleaners to laundry detergent, Attitude products are certified eco-friendly and carbon neutral.) So, when we discovered three new Attitude products, we just had to try them. Attitude’s new phosphate-free automatic dishwasher detergent is not only vegan, biodegradable and free of dyes and artificial fragrances, but it doesn’t leave a film like other green detergents we’ve tried. We also loved the antibacterial disinfectant for surfaces that need a little extra oomph (like the kitchen sink). It may be tough, but it’s still biodegradable, non-carcinogenic and chlorine-free. Perfect your Parenting Skills

Ah, the terrible twos. Tired of conflict with our boys, we picked up a copy of Connected Parenting by child and family therapist Jennifer Kolari–and we’re so glad we did. Kolari’s approach focuses on strengthening the relationship between parent and child through empathy and understanding–and it works. Even in mid-meltdown, our boys responded to her mirroring technique and, suddenly, crisis averted. Written in a friendly, accessible way complete with how to handle some of the toughest situations (from food issues to fights at bedtime), Kolari’s book showed us new ways to set boundaries, avoid tantrums and generally get along better with our little guys. Natural Nail Polish for Kids

Our husbands weren’t overjoyed when our two-year-old sons decided to be the testers for Piggy Paint nail polish (especially since the shade was Girls Rule! Magenta), but even they couldn’t resist painting their nails (they called it “finger painting”) with Piggy Paint. Stay-at-home mom Melanie Hurley designed the kid-friendly nail polish so she wouldn’t have to worry when her daughters put their freshly painted fingers in their mouths. The water-based nail polish is non-toxic and odorless and dries in about a minute. It’s easy to apply–as our young testers can attest–and goes on ultra smooth.

Wall Art For Every Mood

It can be difficult finding an enduring design for your toddler’s room when his tastes can change daily. That’s why we love Little Chipipi Wall Stickers. The removable artwork allows children to create their own designs and change them as often as they like. Stickers can easily be removed and repositioned without damaging walls or leaving residue. Little Chipipi is available in Drive Time, Red Robin or Butterfly designs at RaspberryKids.com, an online store committed to showcasing unique, quality and eco-friendly brands. Raspberry Kids also offers a host of other brands including: Green Toys, Wee-go and Dwellstudio. Just The Facts, Baby readers can enjoy 15% off all Raspberry Kids products until August 31, 2009 by entering the promotional code justthefacts15.
