Healthy eating for two
Healthy eating is more important than ever when you’re pregnant, says Kalnins. Here are some tips for how to eat healthy during pregnancy:
• Decrease your intake of high fat foods to help ensure you maintain a healthy weight gain during pregnancy.
• Choose healthy, nutrient-dense snacks, such as fresh fruit and veggies, low-fat yogurt, or granola
• Drink lots of water.
• When possible, opt for organic foods during pregnancy.
• Take a prenatal vitamin to ensure you’re getting enough of the nutrients that are essential for your developing baby, such as folic acid (0.4 mg daily), calcium and iron.
